Is there anyway I can settle this matter without physically going to Kern County?
Q. I received a courtesy notice for a speeding ticket recently.It was 93 in a 65 on I-5 northbound near Lebec.Anyways,I just received a courtesy notice and it says it is a mandatory appearance & no traffic school since its over 89mph.Now this is really bad for me, since I go to school in Los Angeles, and they want me to appear on a weekday in Kern County (100 mile drive for me). Now is there anyway I can settle this matter without physically going to Kern County?I have no points on my record (only 1 other speeding ticket which I went to traffic school for 3+ years ago)...So basically I would like to attend traffic school to eliminate this point and keep my record clean(is it still possible with this particular violation?)and perhaps get a reduced fine.

No,no jail time on an infraction,which this is.No license suspension,either,unless you already have an ugly record, as this is just a 1-point offense.Some counties,Kern apparently included, throw in a mandatory appearance as a way of inflicting a little extra punishment.The judge can also order mandatory traffic school,not the voluntary kind.Neither would be unusual on a 25-over. If there were an over-100 or reckless driving charge involved(but it sounds like there isn't),it would be more serious.
