What does a person need to do to get a motorcycle endorsement in Illinois?
Q. What does a person need to do to get a motorcycle endorsement in Illinois? In minnesota,there's a written test(which is very simple)to get a permit and then for the endorsement a riding test administered on a small closed course featuring mostly slow speed manuvering.(Left turns, u-turn, slalom, Precision braking,obstacle avoidance and quick braking).How does Illinois go about it? What is the fee structure like ?
A. In Illinois you obtain a driver's license with classifications for the type of vehicles you want to drive.There are two classifications for motorcycles,and four for other vehicles. There is a general written exam to get a "D",and another exam to get an M or L (same written test for either). You must pass both the general and motorcycle written exams and pass the motorcycle driving test to get a license for motorcycle. The motorcycle driving is something like "Most?and there is a closed course that you ride and do various stuff like you described for Minnesota. If you want to able to drive a car, you also must take the car driving test.
