A. First things first. Can you read your ged file with a text editor (Notepad, Word, what-have-you)? If you cannot, then you're likely doing something wrong during the creation of the file. Meantime, you can send me a copy at the Reply-to: address in the header of this posting and I'll see what I can see. If you _can_ read the file, then it might help to snag a copy of either PAF or Legacy - both are free - and to try importing the file using that. If _that_ doesn't work, there's most likely something wrong with the ged file and the way it's been created. No way to tell, sight unseen, though. http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Home/FAQ/frameset_faq.asp?FAQ=faq_ged... Be aware that FTM does a few strange things that are unique to their product. It has a habit of storing notes in locations normally reserved for place names, and this can cause other programs to have conipulations when trying to import an FTM GEDCOM. As Bob mentions, Legacy is free, and has a small routine to put an FTM GEDCOM back on the tracks. It would really be nice if FTM could get their act together....
