Ged HelpQ. Using FTM 2005. I need to make a GED file for 3 generations only, to test an outside company to make a predigree chart with 10 generations on one sheet of paper. Only willing to give them 3 generations of information now. How do I make this GED file? A. 1) In FTM select "Outline Descendent Tree" and on the right side is an option for "Number of Generations" and select 3. 2) Go to "File - Copy/Export Individuals in Outline Descendent Tree". 3) Make sure you change the "Save as type" from .FTW to .GED That's it. At least that's how I did it in version 11.
