Q. After a long hiatus away from super hero comics, I'm back to give them a try. I'm looking for something that's not gonna cross over and force me to buy other titles. I guess I'm looking to buy into a series that will provide me with a complete self-enclosed story. . I am still not ready to take a chance on any Marvel or Image ongoing titles, but I do buy DC's: Starman, Shazam!, Lobo, will try out the forthcoming Hitman by Garth Ennis, and am ready to try another. I've been thinking about Impulse, but I think it's too tied in with the Flash continuity, so I'll be giving it a miss. Now I'm thinking about looking for the 20 issues of the Ray... But, as usual I'd appreciatte some feedback on this. By the way, is this Mr. Priest's best book? What other of his series are recommended?
A. The Florida GED of 20 years ago was incredibly easy -- I could have passed it at 7. I doubt Ray would have trouble. The SATs *are* the college board entrance exams, though, not a prerequisite for them. There is a competitor, the ACT, and some schools have their own tests. Many schools will admit you to college with a GED and a good SAT score (which is how I got my degrees). Nobody cares, but I took the GED to get out of high school (which I hated) a year early.
