What do you think about drivers nowadays?
Q. I commute to work every day (by bike of couse) and I see so many bad auto drivers doing the stupidest things. It's so annoying I'd like to start carrying a big club so the next time one of those in a hurry, distracted, irresponsible, untrained morons try to run me off the road I could bash their windows in. I am pretty frusrated with the competance level of auto drivers. Do they just give anybody who asks a drivers license? Used to be, there was some training involved. What do you think?
A. Recent study indicated that, in fact, the best drivers were the results of high school drivers ed, followed by the private schools, followed by those without any drivers ed. So evidently someone is paying attention. The difference between school and private driver's ed may have much to do with the sub-group of extremely bad adult drivers that desperately needed the private schools and that would skew the results. Also, I personally don't remember learning much from driver's ed in high school, but was glad that my son attended.
